Secretarial ComplianceThe Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on August 20, 2026, issued a notification regarding Digital Power of Attorney for FPI Onboarding. 

The following has been stated: -

•SEBI has permitted Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) to execute Power of Attorney (PoA) through digital signatures in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000.

•The measure eliminates the need for notarisation, apostillisation and consularisation of PoA, thereby reducing onboarding time and documentation.

•It forms part of SEBI’s broader efforts to promote a digital, seamless and investor-friendly FPI onboarding process.

•The provisions of the circular are effective from August 20, 2026.
